Doubleheader is a 75,000-word women’s contemporary novel with a thread of mystery set in and around Boston. Although it is a stand-alone story, it is a spin-off of Party of One.
Casey Gallagher credits her carefully crafted game plan for her winning lifestyle–a solid marriage, a lucrative marketing career, and Doubleheader, a popular sports column she writes with her brother. When Casey discovers that her late father, whose life and memory she idolizes, had an affair which produced a son he never knew existed, she’s determined to identify this walking threat to her father’s spotless reputation. She narrows the field to three rookies: two Boston Red Sox players who’ve befriended her, and a state cop who works with her husband.
Casey’s attempts to force the realities of life into her idealistic plan are challenged by the dialogue running in her head. Is it her conscience or her imagination? Or is it the whisper of the God she doesn’t believe in?
Note to all the New York Yankees fans: Please forgive me; I can’t help where I was born. 🙂
Stop being mean, bad-tempered, and angry. Quarreling, harsh words, and dislike of others should have no place in your lives. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God has forgiven you because you belong to Christ. ~ Eph 4:31-32 (TLB)
