AN ODD VISUAL QUIZ

Here’s a little quiz based on random questions I’ve had over the past few weeks. You can see how my mind wanders. Pretty scary.

Roy Orbison  1.       Do you recognize this singer?
Mustard seed  2.       Do you know this seed’s name?
nebraska  3.       What is this state?
harperlee-190   4.       Do you recognize this author?
u-umlaut  5.       Do you know what the two dots over the letter are called?
 Chartreuse_429758_i0  6.       What is this greenish-yellow called?
pocket book hat  7.       What kind of pocketbook is this?
anime cartoon characters   8.       What is this type of animation called?
Cherry-pitter-1  9.       What is this tool used for?
bunsen  10.   What holiday is celebrated on March 31st?

Did you know or did you guess?   Here are the answers below.

   1.       Roy Orbison—before he started wearing his trademark dark glasses.
Mustard seed  2.       Mustard seed. They are the small round seeds of various mustard plants. The seeds are usually about 1 or 2 mm in diameter.
nabraska name  3.       Now do you recognize it? (Okay, so I had it upside down.)
Harper Lee  4.       Harper Lee. Published in 1960, To Kill a Mockingbird was her first book and won the Pulitzer Prize. Fifty-five years later, at 88, she’s publishing her second book–a sequel to her first.
u-umlaut  5.       Umlaut. It indicates a special pronunciation.
 Chartreuse  6.       Chartreuse.
pocketbook hat only   7.       It’s a hat, not a pocketbook.
 Anime-logo-square   8.       Anime. They’re Japanese animated productions.
 a new cherry pitter  9.       Here’s a modern-day version. It’s a cherry-pitter.
    10.   Bunsen Burner Day celebrates the birthday of its creator, German chemist Robert Wilhelm Eberhard von Bunsen.

Well, I tried to leave a comment but couldn’t get past the door. I got only one—the umlaut. Definitely not with it, these days. Actually, I got Nebraska, even upside down.

    : )

  2. KAREN LEMIEUX says:

    Hi Clarice,

that was v-e-r-r-y interesting. I think I had chartreuse right. I think it’s amazing that Harper Lee is wring a sequel to her book after 55 years and at age 88. maybe there’s still hope after all!!

Well Clarice…the handbag I thought was called a bucket…now the bucket turns out to be a hat. The world is mad, mad I tell you.

  4. ralph says:

I got 4. The Brits wear hats that make the bucket look normal! 🙂

  5. Elsie Bush says:

    I only got 2. Hmmmm.

    • Well it was really a silly and stilted quiz. Obviously, since those were the questions that popped into my head over the past week or so, that means I didn’t know any of them. (Okay, except the pocketbook one I found on Google.)
